It is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of our partner, mentor, and friend – Robert A. Ingram

Bob was the most giving of people, who always had the time and focus to make you feel like you were his only concern. As the leader of GlaxoWellcome, he led an entire industry through an unprecedented era of growth. His employees, all of them, felt as though they were his. If he saw you in the hallway, he would always remember you, and your spouse, and your children. Under his leadership, Glaxo brought transformational medicines to patients – addressing the AIDS epidemic, asthma, COPD, and critical diseases of the central nervous system.

At Hatteras, we all benefited greatly from his “retirement” when he joined us in 2006. He generously loaned us his credibility, enabling Hatteras to grow exponentially over these past 17 years. Bob always gave his time and reputation, without any expectation of anything special. He was a true partner in every way.

Bob has many legacies from his amazing life. Most important to him was his family. He also had abundant friendships and an abiding faith. In the professional realm, there are more contributions than we can count. Hatteras is certainly one of them, and our duty is to ensure that his legacy through Hatteras thrives well into the future. This is our commitment to him, our limited partners, our portfolio companies, and our communities.

Bob's obituary can be found here. Any notes of appreciation for Bob can be sent to Hatteras’ office and we will get them to the Ingram family.
